‘My Son, My Son, Redemption of a Psychic’...

...offers an unusual testimony from the family of a minor showbiz seer, declaring him a confidence trickster who preyed on the gullible.

The siblings and parents of self-proclaimed ‘Psychic to the Stars,’ David Guardino, a bottom feeder in the river of the paranormal (sample tabloid article: ‘The Psychic Power of Doodles Can Get You a Big Raise’) say their son and brother swindled celebrities, the public, and even his own family.

The book’s declared purpose is to acknowledge the harm he did his victims, and each family member wrote or cooperated on their own chapters, detailing the course of a sorry life that ended with death in prison.

... Paul Bannister, author of 'Tabloid Man,' 'Strange Happenings,' and 'Yesterday, Today and For Ever.'

The “Momoirs” by Harriet Smith Guardino

I am still pinching myself to make sure this is really happening! Three years ago at age 87, the Lord blessed me with a new and exciting writing career. Josephine County Historical Society in Grants Pass, Oregon, published my 240-page memoirs, “Dear John, With Love,” which my children have fondly dubbed “The Momoirs”. Look for it in the JCHS Publications section. It is a winsome account of my childhood in rural Oregon on a small dairy farm. As a spinoff, I have published a number of historical short stories, including one in Faith To Write.com. You may find it under Short Stories, entitled “Small Town Carnegie Hall”.

Another short story of mine,“Fond Memories of Those Tragic Years,” peeks at my family life during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Ooligan Press at Portland State University included "Fond Memories" in its OR 150 Oregon Stories anthology! Imagine my work appearing alongside that of governors, TV news anchors, and historic novelist Jane Kirkpatrick!

And the Lord isn’t finished with me yet!

A couple of years ago, my daughter Barbara Guardino approached me with the idea of writing a biography about my eldest son, David Marius Guardino, a con artist and resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, who returned to his Christian roots just before he died. David was the self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Psychic”, a title that earned him a lot of international fame (with clients like Elvis Presley and George Burns) and shame (he served time in prison with the infamous Reverend Jim Bakker of PTL fame). We continue to pray for a publisher. You can find my daughter’s short story version, "Redemption of a Psychic", at The Prison Insider, a prison ministry website.
