"Farmer G stood back at just the right angle and admired his Geometree, but something was missing …" |
Teachers, Librarians, Students: Meet Farmer G and His Famous Geometree!
| It must be genetic, because we are all writers in this family.
For years, I allowed my learning disability – dyslexia – to rob me of my dream to become a successful, published children’s writer. No more. I have decided to publish some of the 100 children’s books and short stories that I have written over the past quarter of a century. My success in this endeavor has become more than just a goal in itself, it is a mission - convey to children that anyone can overcome a disability or other disadvantage, and fulfill their dreams! Currently I am touring grade schools with my children’s math book, Farmer G and The Geometree. It is a reading and coloring book for students between ages five and eight. In my presentation, I briefly talk about what it was like for me being a student with dyslexia, and how difficult having a disability can make school and life. My goal is to inspire each student and teach that, no matter what obstacles life places before them, with self-belief and persistence they can achieve their goals. The show takes about ten minutes, and is entertaining as well as educational for the students. I would be honored to give presentations to your students in their classrooms or in the library. If you are interested in my talking and reading to your classes, please contact me at John L. Guardino and we can arrange show times. I would love to hear from you – especially if you are overcoming a disability!
